Paul intended this to be a fundamental principle for all people who have put their faith in Jesus Christ and have become new creations in Him. We dont follow the law in order to be saved, we arent saved by keeping the law, but what the scriptures tell us we are saved for keeping the law. I love to watch Paul put his theology to work like this. 24 So, brothers, in whatever condition each was called, there let him remain with God.1 Corinthians 7:17-24, ESV The old legalism said, "You must be circumcised in order to be saved (Acts 15:1). In calling us to Himself in Christ at the time He did, and in the place of life He did, and under the circumstances He didwith that upbringing we had, or in that cultural setting in which we live our lives, or with that social standing He has given us in this worldHe has not made any mistakes. Their condition as married people did not need to change. Paul is saying that circumcision has nothing to do with this. Each one should remain in the condition in which he was called. This has far-reaching cultural implications: if you are black, don't try to become white; if you are white, don't try to become black. Either waywhatever the cultural or social situation we are called in, we are to do as Paul says in verse 24. And if we understand its broad cultural application, it offends all of us. This is the word of our God for us this morning. So, what does Paul mean, dont worry about circumcision, just worry about keeping the commands of God.
